Join us for a 12-week program. Meet at Main Street Baptist Church (in the parlour, use the door at the end of the parking lot) every Wednesday night at 6 pm. We encourage you to invite a friend.
We will offer a walking group, a beginners group and an intermediate group.
If you've been looking for a supportive group to increase your fitness, this is it!!
We've designed a program based on a walk / run format, with the goal to progress to the point where you can comfortably exercise for 30 minutes or more! There is a great deal of flexibility in the program, where everyone can find a level that they feel comfortable with. Building on the success of our Fall 2008 program, we have expanded to offer a walking program, a beginner and intermediate 5K program, and a 10K program. The walking program will start slowly and gradually build in both time and intensity. For the runners you'll notice a gradual progression in which the walking time decreases as the running time slowly increases. We will meet every Wednesday night. A group walk/run will be followed by an informal education session on a topic of the week, including topics such as stretching, injury prevention, nutrition etc. We will encourage you to try to fit at least 2 other workouts into the remainder of the week.
Having a goal can be helpful when starting out, so the end of the program coincides with a local race (5 K or 10 K). This time our goal will be the Canada Day run in Grand Bay-Westfield.
